Linking Previous Tournament to Promo Code

You can link a promo code of a tournament to registrations from a previous tournament. This will allow you to create promo codes that are only valid for competitors of a previous tournament. The “Link Tour” field at the bottom of the Update Promo Code window of your current tournament is where you would specify the linked tournament. You must also specify the “Link Tour Criteria” and the appropriate applied fields.

For example, let’s say you want to create a promo code that gives a 20% discount off the registration price for competitors of your previous tournament called “2014 Grappling Challenge”. Here’s is what you would do:

1. In your current tournament, add a promo code and give it a name (for example “MyCode”). Read Section 3 “Creating and Editing the Promotion Code” for details on adding a promo code.

2. Select the previous tournament that you want to link in “Link Tour” field at bottom of the “Add Promotion” window.

3. Select the “Registered” criteria from the “Lint Tour Criteria” field, which is directly below the “Link Tour” selection field. (See description below for detaiils on the other criteria selections.)

4. Click Add button in the “Applied Fields” area, and select “First” and click OK to add the First name field.

5. Click once in the cell under Value column for First field, and select “LINK_TOUR” in the pull down menu. This restricts the promo code to a current registration with the same first name as an approved registration on the linked tournament.

6. Click Add button in the “Applied Fields” area again, and select “Last” and click OK to add the Last name field.

7. Click once in the cell under Value column for Last field, and select “LINK_TOUR” in the pull down menu. This restricts the promo code to a current registration with the same last name as an approved registration on the linked tournament.

8. Click Submit button on the “Add Promotion” window to complete the creation of the promo code.

The other Criteria listed in the “Link Tour Criteria” field (described in Step 3 of the above example) are valid if you have synchronized the winners of linked tournament with the server. Here are the meanings of the criteria selections:

  • The “Placed” criteria is valid if the competitor is selected as having placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th place in the linked tournament.
  • The “1st Placed” criteria is valid if the competitor placed first in the linked tournament.
  • The “2nd Placed” criteria is valid if the competitor placed first in the linked tournament.
  • The “3rd Placed” criteria is valid if the competitor placed first in the linked tournament.
  • The “4th Placed” criteria is valid if the competitor placed first in the linked tournament.

You can create multiple linked promo codes and put them all under a Super Promo code that applies the first valid promo code. Read Section 4. Super Promo Codes to understand how to create a Super Promo Code.

If you do not want to link a previous tournament to this promo code, leave the “Link Tour” field blank.
